Why I'm Running
My Why
I am running for the Board of Education because my faith, my service, and my life's work have taught me that strong schools are the foundation of strong communities.
As a woman of faith, a passionate educator, and a former Mayor Pro Tem and Commissioner for Spring Lake and a proud Charlotte Hawkins Brown Educational Fellow, I have spent years listening to families, supporting teachers, and advocating for children who deserve better than the system they've inherited.
I care deeply about Cumberland County Schools because I have seen firsthand the gaps created by inconsistent curriculum shifts, chronic absenteeism, limited student support staffing, and weakened family engagement. These challenges are not abstract to me — I have lived them in classrooms, in council chambers, and in conversations with parents who feel unheard.
I am stepping forward now because our district needs transparent leadership, forward-thinking solutions, and a renewed commitment to counselors, social workers, nurses, and early-grade learning that builds strong academic and emotional foundations.
My "why" is simple: every child, no matter their zip code, deserves a school system rooted in stability, equity, and compassion. Four years from now, I want Cumberland County Schools to be a district where families feel valued, teachers feel supported, and students feel seen — a district that reflects the strength, resilience, and promise of this community.

Meet Robyn Chadwick
Robyn's commitment to children, education, and community is deeply personal. As a foster parent, she has seen firsthand the importance of stability, advocacy, opportunity, and having adults who are willing to show up for children when they need it most. Her experience has given her a unique perspective on the challenges families face and the critical role schools play in helping children thrive.
Robyn is also the daughter of a Vietnam War veteran, and from her family she learned the meaning of service, sacrifice, perseverance, and responsibility to others. Those values continue to guide how she approaches leadership today.
Her passion for education extends beyond the classroom. Robyn has worked with youth-focused initiatives, including Level Up Your Enrichment, helping connect young people with experiences and opportunities that expand their horizons and encourage them to see what is possible for their future.
As a Charlotte Hawkins Brown Educational Fellow, Robyn has further developed her leadership through a fellowship grounded in education, history, service, and community engagement. The experience deepened her understanding of the power of education to transform lives and strengthen communities.

Robyn is running for Cumberland County Board of Education At-Large to bring a thoughtful, service-driven voice to the Board and to help ensure that decisions remain focused on what matters most: our students, our educators, and the future of Cumberland County.
She is committed to helping build schools that prepare students for more than graduation — schools that equip them with the skills, confidence, experiences, and opportunities to pursue college, careers, entrepreneurship, leadership, and their own definition of success.
Robyn isn't stepping forward because she thinks she has all the answers. She's stepping forward because she knows the value of listening, the responsibility of service, and the difference one committed person can make when they choose to show up.
